David Sossella is an illustrator from Venice, Italy. Working in digital illustration and specialising in vector graphics, he is the co-founder of Gusto Robusto and is currently working with animation company, Manifactory.
Gusto Robusto is a vector art company that showcases artists that produce custom and limited edition digital prints.
Sossella has a very unique and imaginative style that is influenced by Japanese anime, Soviet Bloc, comic books and skate culture. His work is complex and features distinct characters, wearing goggles and riding tanks in a steampunk setting, a la Jamie Hewlett. He often uses orange, red, aqua blue tones and this has become a signature scheme.
I love Japan. I practice martial arts since I was 9 years old and I have taught Aikido for 10 years now. I’m very connected with Japanese aesthetics, both for the traditional point of view that the more pop vision.
Sossella works in a variety of mediums, employing techniques that compliment each other. Most of his artwork starts from a pencil drawing, and is painted onto a canvas and then converted to a digital illustration.
