Who are your 5 favourite Rascals in character design of all time? Why? Research who originally designed them? What does their character represent and how has this been successfully portrayed? Why and how are they a rascal and what expressions, attributes, colours, props etc have been utilised. Has the character evolved throughout history. Have they been reinterpreted by other designers?

  1. Hi Stacy.. I’m still a little confused by the definition of rascal character. So far, I see mainly cartoon characters. Can they be actors such as Dame Edna or people characters that subvert the dominant paradigm? Would you consider Gough a rascal? Do they have to be cartoon? I’d love to chose one of Leunig’s characters, although I don’t really see how he can be classified as a rascal besides stepping out their bravely with duck & moon on some contentious issues .
